In July 1994, astronomers around the world saw fragments of comet Shoemaker-Levy 9 slam into the planet Jupiter.  It was incredible to watch and has led to important discoveries about the planet.  In this ‘sciencecast’ from NASA, published in July 2019, you can find out more.
