Pod Academy copyright statement / Terms and conditions

Pod Academy is an independent, not for profit website carrying podcasts of research.  We are keen that the podcasts get the widest possible audience, and that the research they contain challenges and informs public debate.

However, it is important to note that all the materials on this site are protected by copyright.

In most academic institutions, it is a longstanding academic custom that ownership of the copyright in works of authorship such as textbooks, articles and lectures – whether disseminated in print or electronically – resides with the researcher.  We endorse this.

In a Pod Academy podcast, the copyright remains with the researcher, but  is subject to a creative commons licence.

We are mainly using the Creative Commons BY-NC-SA licence. If a recording is released with this licence, it can be reused and redistributed globally provided that it is used in a non-commercial way and the reuse is attributed to the person/people who made the recording. If a person derives a new work from the recording, the new work may be distributed provided it is released under the same licence.

A few recordings are released with a Creative Commons BY-NC-ND licence. This is similar to the BY-NC-SA licence except that new works may not be derived from the recording.

By using this website or by downloading any material from it, or subscribing to any of the podcasts, or by copying a transcript, or by using the podcast or transcript, you are agreeing to the Terms and Conditions detailed above.
