Stitched Up: the anti-capitalist book of fashion

Transcript

Some of us love fashion.  But all that alluring glamour comes at a price. Sally Feldman talks to journalist and campaigner, Tansy Hoskins, about her book Stitched Up: The anti-captalist book of fashion.

They explore what is behind the clothes we wear – the money, the advertising that distorts women’s bodies and the production in poor countries around the globe.

But would fashion be any more sustainable under a different political system? Is green fashion a realistic alternative?  And do Soviet designers like Popova and Stefanova really offer an alternative?
